The Breakfast study has created this privacy policy to show our commitment to the privacy of those of you who visit our website. Our privacy policy is outlined below along with how we treat information collected from our website visitors.

There are two kinds of information that we collect from our website users, which are called: 1) Aggregate information which does not identify you and is used so that we can understand website statistics (for example, the number of visitors, our most visited pages, etc.); and 2) Personal information which is identifying information that we only collect from you if you consent to provide it to us. There are a few ways we may collect personal information from you:

  • If you are part of the study and want to log in. Here we collect your email address, first name and last name so you can set up a password and your private profile page.

  • If you contact us through our website. Here we collect your email address so that we can respond to you; and,

  • If you only navigate the site, no personal information will be collected.

Personal information may de stored in data centres located in the United States of America, Ireland, South Korea, Taiwan and Israel. Any study related data sent outside of the Canadian borders may increase the risk of disclosure of information because the laws in these countries, dealing with protection of information may not be as strict as in Canada. However, all study related data, that might be transferred outside of Canada will be coded (this means it will not contain your name or personal identifying information) before leaving the study site.

Disclosure of Information

The Breakfast study will not disclose your information except for when:

  • The Breakfast study uses another organization to help with event registration services. In this case, we will provide your registration information to that organization.

  • When the Breakfast study must respond to demands or requests from government authorities, courts or law enforcement (in those cases, we have to by law!).
